About

Allen Hanson, RPBio.

Senior Biologist, Project Manager

I am a Senior Biologist and Project Manager with over 25 years of experience in fisheries and aquatic science across British Columbia. I founded HIGHRIDGE Environmental Consulting to provide science-based, cost-effective environmental services to First Nations, government agencies, industry, and conservation organizations.

My work spans hydroelectric development, mining, transportation, energy, and urban infrastructure. I have contributed to over 20 hydroelectric projects, including 14 run-of-river facilities, across all project phases, from baseline studies through permitting, construction, operations, and compliance monitoring, with particular experience in habitat assessment, species recovery, offsetting, and effectiveness monitoring.

My technical expertise includes fish and fish habitat assessment, environmental flow needs, water quality and eDNA sampling, impact assessment, mitigation, and monitoring. I focus on delivering concise, technically sound, regulator-ready reports on time, while building respectful, long-term relationships with clients and partners, including First Nations communities.

I hold a BSc from Simon Fraser University and am a Registered Professional Biologist in good standing with the College of Applied Biology. I am also an active member of the Association of Professional Biologists of BC, the American Fisheries Society, and the Canadian Water Resources Association.
